A Pair Rare Late 1940s Vintage Brooks Brothers by T Anthony Suitcases
According to T. Anthony these suitcases were only made during one year. They never made suitcases for Brooks Brothers again. Inside on of the suitcases is a T. Anthony sticker with their Madison Avenue Address on it. The suitcases are made of thick leather and lined with canvas. One suitcase is what T. Anthony calles THE SUITER. Both suitcases have the metal Brooks Brother Labels. Their metal hardware is marked USA Excelsior - Hartford Con. Their Inside zippers are C & C.
The smaller suitcase measures 21 inches by 12 inches by 6.5 inches. I found the T. Anthony Label at the bottom of this case. The glue had dried out on the tag so it is loose. The inside is pretty clean just a small rust spot here and there. The outside has some wear and scratches but overall is in very good condition. I did not touch up the black areas. I thiink someone who specializes in cleaning good leather luggage can get this suitcase back to like new condition. There are still bits of travel stickers on the case. I only lightly cleaned it not wanting to harm the leather. I am not a leather expert.
The larger suitcase measures 24 inches by 17 inches by 8 inches. This is a “SUITER” it comes with hangers and a separater which attaches to inside of suitcase. The inside is pretty clean just a small rust spot here and there and a light watermark. The outside has some wear and scratches more then the smaller case. but overall is in very good condition. I did not touch up the black areas. The hardware on the handles on this case is worn and losing its gold plating. I think someone who specializes in cleaning good leather luggage can get this suitcase back to like new condition. There are still bits of travel stickers on the case. I only lightly cleaned it not wanting to harm the leather.
